My Concrete Policy Proposals for Torontonians
My Concrete Policy Proposals for Torontonians
As a candidate for City Councillor, my commitment to Scarborough is rooted in my vision for a brighter, more inclusive, and prosperous city. To bring this vision to life, I am dedicated to implementing concrete policy proposals that will directly address the pressing issues facing Torontonians. Here are some of my key policy priorities:
Affordable Housing for All:
Affordable Housing Programs: I will work to develop and expand affordable housing programs, partnering with builders and non-profits to increase the supply of affordable homes.
Rent Control: I support stricter rent control measures to ensure that rents remain affordable for tenants, while still providing incentives for responsible landlords.
Homeownership Support: I will explore policies to help first-time homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership, such as down payment assistance programs.
Improved Public Transit:
Subway Expansion: I will advocate for expanding the subway system to provide faster, more efficient, and accessible transit options for all Torontonians.
Enhanced Bus and Streetcar Services: I will push for more frequent and reliable bus and streetcar services to improve connectivity and reduce congestion.
Fare Affordability: I will work to ensure that public transit remains affordable for all residents, exploring options such as fare freezes and low-income subsidies.
Environmental Sustainability:
Green Infrastructure: I support investments in green infrastructure projects, including parks, bike lanes, and green spaces, to enhance our city’s environmental sustainability.
Reducing Carbon Emissions: I am committed to reducing our carbon footprint by promoting public transit use, implementing energy-efficient technologies, and supporting local renewable energy initiatives.
Economic Growth and Local Businesses:
Support for Small Businesses: I will advocate for policies that support small businesses, including grants, resources, and streamlined permitting processes.
Job Creation: I will work to attract new industries and create job opportunities in Toronto, focusing on emerging sectors like technology and innovation.
Education and Youth Development:
Education Funding: I will collaborate with local schools to ensure that they receive adequate funding, allowing them to provide a high-quality education to our children.
Youth Programs: I will support and expand youth programs, mentorship opportunities, and extracurricular activities to engage young Torontonians and offer positive alternatives.
Public Safety:
Community Policing: I will advocate for community policing strategies to build trust between law enforcement and residents and improve public safety.
Crime Prevention: I will support and implement programs aimed at crime prevention, youth diversion, and community-based solutions to address the root causes of criminal activity.
These are just a few of the policy proposals that I plan to pursue as your City Councillor. I am dedicated to working diligently, collaborating with colleagues, and seeking community input to ensure that these proposals translate into effective policies that will improve the lives of all Torontonians. Together, we can make Scarborough an even better place to live, work, and thrive.
Thank you for your trust and support.
